Second Day of the Project

Thursday, we officially grabbed our materials and started creating.

♡ In my class was with Karen,  we started adding some materials to our dress and realized some mistakes..
✴︎ In the afternoon with Paul, we learned about how to drastically draw attention to something by using the spacing of black and white

< ♡ >

Today we got the help of Karen to come up with a great idea of using plastic cup lids to create the look of our scale look. but then we also realized some mistakes... we were suppose to create a look with materials you wouldn't usually use for a dress but we had used a shower curtain with a cotton material so we needed to think about ways to change our design to fit the expectations...

・adding our cup lids to our dress
(we realized that you couldn't really see the amazing layers of the cup lids because of the white background so we some how need to change that)

・thinking about the shape and length of the dress
(we had an opening in the back so tried to see if it looked good as a slit in the front? but no.. it was also loosing its mermaid look in the front side too.. we might need to change the shape?)

・ended the class with putting feathers at the bottom of the dress
(might take forever to put the feathers on.. any other ideas?)

#next class we need to ...
think about redesigning a bit to reach first follow the directions and expectations of the project, should make the scale part of the dress stand out more, what should we do with the top??

<✴︎>
Today in class we had a male model to draw an out line of  and also had to include add few elements in the back ground in pencil. Then using black paint, painted the back ground to bring out the elements and symbols in the drawing. Through this we learned about how the drawings are organized and balanced out using the spacings of each elements in the drawings. Showing the main point of the drawing through spacing also means that you are bringing the main object to the fore ground and everything in the back ground of the painting. It is not just about how neat you draw the artwork but also about how you organize and place the elements too.
