Third and Final Day of our making of the garment

FINALLY  FRIDAY!!!

♡In Karens class, Friday was our last day to finish up our garment and we still hadn't thought about what to do with the top...

✴︎In Pauls class we made black and white designs in small squares and later combined a bunch of the same designs to make one big patterned design (it is hard to explain you can see it in the pictures below)
<♡>

WE CUT THE BOTTOM HALF OF THE DRESS OFF. It wasn't an easy thing to watch... we all agreed that we shouldn't really show the use of the show curtain fabric in the garment and it also seemed like it would take forever to finish putting the feathers on so we decided that we should cut the bottom half of our dress off.  The sketch on the left side is an original sketch of Sissy, one of our group mates, and used that as a reference to make the bottom of our dress work out.

・we already had some newspaper that we hadn't used so we used the pages and curled them up, stuck them on to create the "fin" of the mermaid dress

・Taking an advice from Karen, we decided that we should color the rims of the plastic cup lids to bring out the uniqueness off it. At first we got silver paint and painted the lids silver to match the silver metal of the shower curtain, but then realised that we couldn't really see the details and felt that it was better to paint it black.  It looked 10times better and it added a great accent to our dress. So now what do we do with our top...?

・We tried many things like using news paper and making it a tube top to match with the bottoms but the problem with this was that it looked dull from far away. Then we tried adding the silver metal loop from the shower curtain and added it to the middle it looked okay.. then we tried trash bags that were laying on the floor... ehh.. then the left over feathers.. ehh..

・Friday's class was over at this point so we needed to continue on the weekends.. and.. this is what we came up with at the end! OUR FINAL LOOK!

simple top but make the details stand out and look put together!

#what we need to do next.. our fashion show!!! we have to put the dresses on a human being now..!!! excited but nervous at the same time!!

<✴︎>

In Pauls class today..
・We made two by two inch squares and designed them using simple shapes
・Then made 4 of the same ones, 4 of the opposite color ones, 4 mirrored ones , then 4 of the mirrored opposite colored ones...took forever

・using the 16 small squares we arranged them however we wanted to  create one big four by four inch square.

・I thought this processes of arranging the squares wouldn't take me long but it actually took me forever to get them to look the way I wanted them to look..

・Then took me an extra 5 bajillion hours on drawing clean lines and measuring everything out nicely with black paint on a nicer sheet of paper... but it turned out pretty good!
